Willpower against Cancer, the greatest Human Strength!

Survival of the Fittest was a phrase originated from Darwin's theory of evolution describing the process of 'Natural Selection'; preservation of favored species by nature in the 'Struggle of Life'. Being a Cancer physician, I would like to extrapolate and dedicate this meaningful phrase to the audacious human species having a complex disease named 'Cancer'. They have a dedicated mental and physical preparation and unmatched willingness to fight it to the best of their capacity.
They truly live the fighting spirit as they come prepared to any cancer physician for that matter for all forms of physical, mental and financial difficulties that they may undergo during the cancer treatment. Reasons can be many. Many patients have family responsibilities, concerns for the future of their children. Many of them are the only earning member in their families. Above all, everybody carries a strong desire to live long and live well. Their strong willpower generated out of these reasons probably gives them an extraordinary strength to fight. I consciously draw my energy every day from them while I treat & converse with them as a part of my profession.
In my clinical experience, I have seen patients with strong willpower and preparedness to fight cancer, responding to treatment dramatically well. There must be a positive energy that prevails in their case which makes things better for them.
On an occasion of National Cancer Survivor month, June 2019, I acknowledge, admire and salute the mighty spirit of those who want to fight and survive against all odds, be it Cancer.
