Poor dental hygiene, exposure to certain wood dust and chemical fumes, and previous radiation to the head and neck are also contributing factors.

Diagnosis
Diagnosis involves a thorough physical examination of the head and neck, nasopharyngoscopy or laryngoscopy to visualize the throat and airways, and biopsy of suspicious lesions. Imaging tests such as CT, MRI, and PET scans assess the tumor size, location, and spread. HPV testing may be performed for certain throat cancers.

Treatment
